Bizarre Foods With Andrew Zimmern: Morocco
The Travel Channel
Something I noted about the first episode of Bizarre Foods - in which Zimmern did the Philippines - was that it was more like a standard issue travel show, with an occasional aside to chow down on something gruesome.
The tendency continued as Zimmern made his way to Morocco for episode two. Rather than a collection of gross-out scenes strung together, this was a passably entertaining and informative look at Moroccan culture and cuisine.
Of course, there were some "bizarre" foods on hand, though it seems that there were fewer than in the first episode. Among them, a steamed sheep's head and a nasty breakfast treat made of an indeterminate meat preserved in unappetizing looking globs of its own yellow fat. Also on the menu, beef tongue and heart and a stuffed version of a pancreas.
The show started out in Marrakesh, but Zimmern also made forays into the desert and mountains of Morocco and a seafood-tasting trip to the coast.
Aside from some kidneys and brains - pretty sedate stuff on the bizarre scale - there wasn't really anything else in this episode that was particularly weird.
